"Identity can be interpreted in many different ways; it can be someone's name, age, race, basic facts about a person, or it
could be more to do with someone's personality, religion or musical preferences.
We explored identity through a
number of ways. We looked at alter-egos, reality television, bodies, hobbies and nationality. What is it that makes
someone's identity? Is it what they wear? What music they listen to? Where they come from? Where their parents come
from?
Through asking questions like these, we each found different areas of identity to work with in a more
concentrated fashion. The paintings represent a variety of themes to do with identity from fingerprints to family.
Through print we produced a number of final outcomes, all on different aspects of identity. Our print project allowed us
to flirt with different themes and experiment whereas painting enabled us to research one topic in a lot more
depth".
