'Croydon Champions', sponsored by Croydon
Guardian, celebrated the borough’s unsung heroes as they were toasted
at the sixth Croydon Champions awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Croydon on
Wednesday 7th November 2007.
'Croydon Champions', is now in its
sixth year, and around 300 people were present to celebrate the winners and
their achievements. The campaign unites businesses and the community in
celebrating Croydon as a champion place to live and work.
The focus of
Croydon Champions is to recognise and acknowledge work done in various ways in
Croydon's communities by many outstanding individuals who claim no reward for
it, and who would otherwise go unrecognised.
In 2007, a special category
award for the arts was established; The Christine Van Emst Awards for The Arts.
Pepperton uk is pleased to announce that Gallery Director, Bula
Chakravarty Agbo is the first recipient of this special award in recognition of
her contribution to the arts community in Croydon
